How to choose

An alkaline base cleaner (pH 11–13) is the first chemical step on a dirty car: it dissolves traffic film that neutral shampoo leaves behind. Use the published dilution, apply to a cool pre-rinsed panel, and never let it dry. On coated cars, save the strong end of the range for decon days. FAQ

What is traffic film?

The grey film of oils, exhaust soot and road grime that bonds to paint. Neutral shampoo struggles with it; alkaline cleaners at 1:10–1:100 dissolve it.

Will an alkaline pre-wash strip my wax or coating?

Repeated strong use can shorten wax/sealant life. Dilute to the weak end for routine washes; ceramic coatings tolerate it better but still rinse promptly.

TFR vs APC — what's the difference?

Same alkaline chemistry family: TFRs are tuned for exterior road film, APCs for general surfaces. Dilution decides the job either way.
